Whether you're an avid cyclist seeking the thrill of gravel paths or a nature enthusiast eager to explore untamed terrains on your gravel bike, this journey promises to be one for the books.

 

Day 1 | Franschhoek → Hermanus

Your gravel tour begins in the charming town of Franschhoek, nestled in the heart of the Cape Winelands. As you set off, you'll be surrounded by the picturesque vineyards and rolling hills that this region is famous for. The scenic beauty of the landscape will accompany you as you cycle through this wine- producing haven. Along the route, you'll be treated to the sight of neatly arranged vineyards and the undulating terrain that characterizes the area.

Your cycling adventure for the day will lead you to Hermanus, a coastal town known for its stunning views of the ocean and the possibility of whale watching. After a day of cycling, you'll have a well-deserved dinner at one of the local seafood restaurants. Here, you'll indulge in fresh seafood caught from the nearby waters and savour the taste of local cuisine that perfectly complements your journey.

Day 2 | hermanus → cape aguhlas

On the second day of your journey, you'll continue your ride from Hermanus, heading towards Cape Agulhas. This leg of the journey will take you along a rugged coastline, offering breath-taking vistas of the ocean and surrounding landscape. The journey will be characterized by the raw beauty of the coastal terrain and the ever-present sound of crashing waves.

Upon reaching Cape Agulhas, you'll have the opportunity to explore the Cape Agulhas Nature Reserve. This reserve is a haven for diverse flora and fauna, offering a chance to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region. The iconic lighthouse at Cape Agulhas will be a highlight of the day. Climbing to the top will reward you with panoramic views of the coastline and the surrounding area. After a day of exploration, you'll enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, savouring the flavours of South African cuisine.

Day 3 | cape agulhas → stanford

As you leave Cape Agulhas behind, you'll embark on a cycling journey to Stanford. This leg of the tour will take you through picturesque farmland, allowing you to experience the tranquillityof the countryside. The peaceful surroundings will provide a serene backdrop for your ride, offering a change of pace from the coastal scenery of the previous days.

Upon arriving in Stanford, you'll have the chance to relax and unwind. The town's relaxed atmosphere and local charm will provide the perfect setting for a leisurely evening. Dinner at one of the local restaurants will be a culinary delight, offering you a taste of the region's flavours.

Day 4 | stanford → Franschhoek

Continuing your journey, you'll cycle from Stanford back to Franschhoek, completing the loop of your gravel tour. The familiarity of the landscape will offer a sense of connection to the places you've visited over the past days. As you ride through vineyards and rolling hills once again, you'll have the opportunity to reflect on the experiences and sights that have defined your tour.

Day 5 | Rest Day → Cape town

After several days of cycling, you'll have a well-deserved rest day. This day provides the opportunity to explore Cape Town, one of South Africa's most vibrant cities. Taking the cable car up Table Mountain will offer you a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding coastline. The day can be spent leisurely exploring the city's attractions, enjoying its diverse culture, and relaxing before the final leg of your journey.

Day 6 | cape town → cape town peninsula

Surfaces: 100% Paved 0%Gravel
Climbing: 1471mm

For our last ride we cycling around the famous Cape Peninsula. Start in Town and cycle along the coastal road, passing through Clifton and Hout Bay. Enjoy the beautiful beaches and stunning scenery along the way. Ride along Chapman's Peak Drive, a scenic coastal road that offers breathtaking views of the ocean and cliffs. Stop at viewpoints along the way to take photos. Continue cycling along the Cape Peninsula, passing by the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. While passing the entrance gate to our right, we delight in a downhill ride towards Simons Town, relishing the stunning views overlooking False Bay. From Simons Town, we take a left turn, making our way back via Black Hill to Noordhoek. Finally, we ride back to Cape Town, savouring the memories of this remarkable cycling expedition.
